Tryout Information for 2014-2015

Tryouts for the 2014-2015 Phantom Youth Teams will be held as follows: 

 

Squirt  Monday April 7th 5:45-7:00pm and Tuesday April 8th 5:45-7:00pm

Team offers are now posted by clicking the Squirt 2014-15 tab above

PeeWee  Monday, April 7th 7:15-8:30pm and Wednesday, April 9th 5:30-6:45pm

Team offers are now posted by clicking the PeeWee 2014-15 tab above

Bantam  Tuesday, April 8th 7:15-8:45pm, Wednesday, April 9th 7:00-8:15pm, and Thursday, April 10th 6:00-7:15pm

U16  Wednesday, April 9th 8:30-9:45pm

Tryout Fee is $75.00 and is non-refundable

Commitment Fee is $300.00 and will be deducted from your season fee.  It is non-refundable once an offer is  accepted.

Tryout Fee; If registering via the website, you will have two options for payment of the $75.00 Tryout Fee.  You can either pay on-line - information will be given in a follow up confirmation email - or pay by check made payable to YAAHA the first night of your tryout.  If registering at the Ice Zone before tryouts as a "walk in", you must pay the Tryout Fee by check made payable to YAAHA the first night of your tryout.
 
If paying online – you will need to create a new/unique user account for YAAHA payments (only previous event was the March Learn to Play event).  Previous logins with LinkMyTeam for Peak Hockey, the Phantom Youth Open Houses at the Covelli Centre, or the Phantom Hockey Summit will not allow access to the Tryout Fee payment.
 
Commitment Fee; The $300.00 Commitment Fee must be paid by check made payable to YAAHA the first night of your tryout.  If an offer is made to the player, the check will be cashed after you have accepted the position and will be applied toward your 2014-2015 season fee.  This fee is non-refundable.  If an offer is not made OR if you decline the offer, the check will be destroyed.
 

USHL Phantoms Hockey Summit

 

Thanks to Coach Anthony Noreen and his staff for conducting this great event.  Players from Pittsburgh to Sandusky took advantage of the Hockey Summit to learn what it takes to move to the next level!


Youth Hockey Open House

 

Special Thank You's to the USHL Coaching Staff, The Covelli Centre, and our Phantom Youth Volunteers for making the Open House events a success!

Through the two weekends, we had over 80 players enjoy a great afternoon on the ice and then watch the USHL Phantoms in action!!

We look forward to similar opportunities in the future.

Thanks to your great spirit and involvement we are looking forward to keeping the program on the ice through March!

 

Anyone interested in participating in our program, coaching in the program, or helping with the program is asked to contact us at ytownhockey-adm2014@yahoo.com .  The ADM age groups (2006 and younger for the 2014-15 season) are THE MOST IMPORTANT developmental age for our young players.

Where does bodychecking fit in minor hockey?
 
Ban on hitting until the age of 13 a smart decision, though danger looms when the bodies start to fly.

When Hockey Canada announced in late May a ban on bodychecking until the bantam age group, I wasn’t sure what to think. That’s because I can appreciate both sides of the argument.  More More
